This month's photographs are from a photo trip into the hills of the Banks Peninsula, about 75 minutes from Christchurch.  This area is used by cows, sheep, and the occasional hiker or photographer.  The road into the hills is curvy, narrow and not sealed, discouraging many from driving through this area down to the coastal town of Port Levy.

I don't know the history of this area, but it sits atop a ridge, pretty much at the summit, where the winds can howl (notice there's only growth on one side of some of the trees,) and the tree stumps were likely cut down a long time ago.  It's a fun place to take photos and this was my third trip.  Each time I seem to see different things, so I plan to go again next year.

Of these photos my favorite is the forth one -- it looks so surreal, but it's all just the way it was!
